The Prompt

Rewrite the following text for maximum clarity. Follow these rules:

1. **Sentences:** Max 20 words average. Break long sentences.
2. **Words:** Replace jargon with plain language. If a technical term is necessary, define it parenthetically.
3. **Structure:** One idea per paragraph. Lead with the conclusion.
4. **Voice:** Active voice. Name the actor. ("We decided" not "It was decided")
5. **Cut:** Remove hedge words (somewhat, rather, quite), filler (in order to, the fact that), and redundancies.

Preserve:
- All factual claims and numbers
- The author's intended meaning
- Technical accuracy

After rewriting, show:
- Readability score (Flesch-Kincaid grade level)
- Word count: before → after
- Top 3 changes explained

How To Use It

Paste any text — emails, reports, documentation, marketing copy. The AI will simplify without dumbing down, maintaining precision while eliminating friction.

Why It Works

Clarity isn’t about short words — it’s about reduced cognitive load per sentence. This prompt targets the specific patterns that make writing hard to parse (passive voice, nested clauses, undefined jargon) while preserving meaning.

Variations

Audience-specific rewrite:

Rewrite this for [AUDIENCE: executives/teenagers/non-technical stakeholders]. Adjust vocabulary, examples, and assumed knowledge.

Tone shift:

Rewrite this text keeping the same information but changing the tone from [formal/academic/dry] to [conversational/energetic/authoritative].

Brevity pass:

Cut this text by 50% without losing any key information. Every remaining sentence must earn its place.
