Daniela Amodei is the reason Anthropic is a business and not just a research lab. While Dario sets the technical vision, Daniela built the sales engine, policy operation, and organizational infrastructure that turned safety research into a multi-billion-dollar enterprise. In a field dominated by technical co-founders, her operational half of the equation is consistently undervalued by observers and consistently essential to Anthropic's growth.
Small businesses make up nearly half the private-sector workforce in America, but they've never had the resources of bigger companies, and the people running them are constantly time-constrained. AI is the first technology that meaningfully changes that math, giving owners the chance to move as fast as their larger competitors. That's why we're launching Claude for Small Business to make sure AI shows up for the entrepreneurs and communities who need it most. Claude now runs inside the tools owners already rely on (Quickbooks, PayPal, HubSpot, Canva, Docusign, Google, Microsoft), taking on the work that piles up: planning payroll, closing the month, chasing invoices, drafting the next campaign. We also built a free AI Fluency course with PayPal. Starting this week, we're taking Claude for Small Business on the road to host free, live workshops for hundreds of small business owners across the country. We're kicking off in Chicago and heading to Tulsa, Dallas, Hamilton Township, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Salt Lake City, Baltimore, San Jose, and Indianapolis. I'm proud of the work we’re doing in this space, and I’m excited to see how small businesses everywhere use Claude.
Last week I had a lovely conversation with San Francisco Giants President & CEO Larry Baer and SF Standard Editor-in-Chief Kevin Delaney. Larry and I are both SF natives and alums of Lowell High School, and a lot of our discussion centered on San Francisco. We talked about how growing up here shaped us as leaders, the importance of reinvesting in the community (including building more housing!), and where AI is showing up across the city, from Oracle Park to local nonprofits. I'm delighted to welcome Vas Narasimhan to Anthropic's Board of Directors, following his appointment by our Long-Term Benefit Trust. Vas is a physician and the CEO of Novartis, one of the world's largest pharmaceutical companies. He began his career championing global health priorities by working on HIV/AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis programs across India, Africa, and South America. Since then, he has overseen the approval of more than 35 novel medicines and vaccines. He is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards of the University of Chicago, Harvard Medical School, and the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America, among others. Vas knows how to bring new scientific innovation from the laboratory to the people who need it, and how to do that responsibly in one of the most regulated industries in the world. That's exactly the kind of perspective we want as AI becomes more capable. He joins Dario, me, Yasmin Razavi, Jay Kreps, Reed Hastings, and Chris Liddell on our board. Welcome, Vas!
