CEO of Modular AI, creator of the LLVM compiler infrastructure and the Swift programming language. Former VP of Autopilot at Tesla and engineering director at Google Brain. Building the Mojo programming language for AI systems.
Lattner is making a bet that the AI industry doesn't want to hear: the software stack between models and hardware is fundamentally broken, and fixing it requires a new programming language. It sounds audacious until you remember he already did this twice — LLVM and Swift both became industry standards. Mojo's pitch of Python ergonomics with C-level performance hits the exact pain point that forces every serious ML team to maintain ugly C++ and CUDA code. If Mojo gains traction, Modular becomes the picks-and-shovels play for the entire AI infrastructure build-out.
I built a story and you can too! Check out "The Carbonated Crisis": https://lnkd.in/g-iepYrH This is built by Modular's free demo "Inkwell", using lightning fast image and text generation to build interactive storybooks. It's a fun and interactive - I'd love to see what you create! 👇
